Nollywood Actor Hanks Anuku And Gang Arrested For Causing Fear And Panic On Ghanaian Road

Nigerian-actor-Hans-Anuku
I came across this report online and decided to share.
Another point to note is that I never knew Hanks Anuku was still an actor sef; anyways, read the article below: –
A movie crew of 11 were arrested at dawn yesterday (July 23) for allegedly causing fear and panic during the shooting of a television series on the Spintex Road in Accra.
The crew, comprising five women and six men, including a popular Nigerian actor, Hanks Anuku, were said to have fired gunshots indiscriminately about 3 a.m. yesterday.
The other members of the crew were George Adu Badoo, Joseph Heisk, Ivy Bentum, Adjetey Roberts, Eluheaka Mensah, Arhin Wakila, Mary Acheampong, Emmanuel Anumaka, Charles Roger Beckly and Sherrif Sandy Brown.
They allegedly blocked the road between the Fidelity Bank and Stanchart Bank on the Spintex Road, while a motorcyclist chased a car.
Panicky motorists who called the Police Control Room through the emergency numbers had mistaken the crew for a gang of armed robbers who had blocked the road and were attacking road users.
Briefing journalists yesterday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, said the police control room received a series of phone calls that a gang of armed robbers who had blocked a section of the road were firing and robbing motorists and other road users on the Spintex Road.
He said some residents of the area who suspected it was a robbery attack on the two banks hid under their beds and other places they considered safe in their homes while they called the police for help.
“Most motorists who were using that stretch of road, upon hearing the loud command of “Stop! Stop! Stop!”, sensed danger and quickly reversed, causing a lot of chaos on the Spintex Road.
“A patrol team was quickly dispatched to the scene, only to ascertain that the supposed gang was a crew of a movie production company known as Rabell Entertainment,” he said.
He said the police found that the crew members were using a shotgun, fire crackers, two rubber-made pistols and toy machine guns to shoot a movie without any lawful permit.
By their act, Mr Yohuno said, they wilfully obstructed public way and hindered the free passage of any other person or, as well as caused fear to members of that community.
According to him, the use of the fire crackers was an offence, as there was a ban on the firing of fire crackers and similar explosives.
“More importantly, if care was not taken by the police, there could have been exchange of fire which could have led to the death of many because what the police witnessed on arrival portrayed a robbery operation,” he said.
Although the police were not against film-making because of the enormous role the industry played in society, he said, they would not tolerate acts that were likely to occasion the breach of peace, endanger public defence, and safety or cause public fear and panic.
Similarly, he stated that if such activities were not discouraged, any group of persons under the same modus operandi could pretend to be acting a movie but would end up committing robbery.
He, therefore, advised movie production companies to seek the necessary police permit, protection and presence whenever their scripts required the staging of violent scenes, especially in public places, to avoid any mishaps or cause fear to the public.
At the Accra Regional Command, three of the women who had been arrested with the crew wept uncontrollably as they tried to explain that they were not criminals.
They said they had been recruited to shoot a movie about night life and were not engaged in any criminal act.
Later in an interview, one of the directors of Rabell Entertainment, Billy Jane, admitted that the crew had not obtained permit for staging the violent scene which was part of a three-year television series titled: “Late Night Scenes”, which was scheduled to run on a number of television stations in Ghana soon.
She explained that the crew had earlier shot some scenes in a club and were returning home when they decided to stage one of the scenes on the street.
She said the company had always sought the assistance of the police any time it shot a movie which required permit or protection from the law enforcement agencies.
“We are sorry. It was an oversight. I am sure it will not happen again,”she pleaded.

Omotola Jalade – “No Friends  No Foe In Nollywood just only me

omo
Nollywood queen and reality TV star, Omotola Jalade, revealed to Chux Ohai on her relationship with her colleagues in the movie industry.
According to the actress, she said “I don’t have close friends in Nollywood. Everybody is my colleague. Maybe it is because I live very far way from so many people in the industry. Secondly, I’m not very good at visiting people. I don’t have that kind of luxury.”
On if her daughter will get married at a young age, Omotola said “I don’t care much about it. I don’t even want to think about that because I got married early. What I always tell people is that all fingers are not equal. The fact that I got married early does not mean that my own child will get married early. My mother didn’t marry early. So it is not hereditary. But if my daughter wants to get married early and I like the guy and If I see that he is responsible enough, why not?”
The actress also talked about getting married early, she said “If I hadn’t been married earlier, I probably would not be by now. I don’t know if any other man would have been able to handle me the way my husband has done. It is not because I am a bad person. I am actually a very strong woman.
At a point, you might become so confused and wonder if any man will ever love you for who you are. But, if you are not a very grounded person, you too can contribute to your own problems. I consider myself to be lucky to remain married.”

British Movie Star, Russel Brand Curses The ‘Queen’ of England

russell
Controversial British Hollywood star, Russell Brand has gone on an epic Facebook rant slamming The Queen on Facebook and calling her ”a little old lady in a shiny hat – that we paid for”.
The controversial star even posted a quote from his book ‘Revolution’ about the Queen’s last name.
”I mean, in England we have a Queen for f**k’s sake. A Queen! We have to call her things like ‘Your Majesty’ YOUR MAJESTY! Like she’s all majestic, like an eagle or a mountain. She’s just a person. A little old lady in a shiny hat – that we paid for,” Russell wrote.
He continued: ”’Your Highness’! What the f**k is that?! What, she’s high up, above us, at the top of a class pyramid on a shelf of money with her own face on it. We should be calling her Mrs Windsor. In fact that’s not even her real name, they changed it in the war to distract us from the inconvenient fact that they were as German as the enemy that teenage boys were being encouraged, conscripted actually, to die fighting. Her actual name is Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
”Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha!! No wonder they f**king changed it. It’s the most German thing I’ve ever heard – she might’ve well as been called Mrs Bratwurst-Kraut-Nazi – from REVOLUTION”
Fans immediately slammed the actor/comedian calling him an hypocrite who once expressed excitement in meeting The Queen.

I may lose my virginity soon — Adokiye Kyrian

Vulnerably beautiful Adokiye Kyrian, peace ambassador, architect, singer and actress, made a big fuss sometime last year, when she revealed to Potpourri that she was still a virgin. Not a big deal, but in this fast and furious era where youngsters want to get high, real fast and be done with so much is so little time, it is nothing but a big deal.
Adokiye
Adokiye
We got talking again on Tuesday on a lighter note, and she was joking about bringing a groom price for one of my dashing sons. Jokingly too, I returned that she must have to bring me a jet to give the hand of my son to her in marriage (remember, she said the man who will deflower her  will have to buy her mum a private jet she promised her). Then, with a tone that had a bit of seriousness about it she dropped the bomb.
“I will let that go soon (meaning her virginity)”, she said, with a wry smile. When I heaved a sigh of surprise, she surprised me more by adding “ what’s the point of having all the endowment and not enjoying life as a woman. Plus, people are beginning to call me names, like mumu and all. I have been thinking lately, you know, though my mind is not made up yet”.
Knowing I have been gifted a good story, I probed further and asked if she truly misses anything as a virgin. She will be 24/25 this year.
“Yes, I guess I’m human” she shot back. “Don’t get it twisted. Sometimes I feel like I’m missing but each time I want to make that move, I get scared because I know once it’s gone, it’s gone”.
Then I suspected this girl must have found a guy she doesn’t want to lose because of sex. I hit her with the question.
“They always push” she replied. “Push, push and push. Don’t you know men? Aren’t you a man?” she wanted to know and I reminded her that I am. “Man, I’m so scared” she continues as if talking to herself this time. “But why not? I came with it I may leave with it”. I told her that would be an awful thing to do, afterall God gave it to us to enjoy. She cut me short and replied, “But God didn’t make it compulsory for me to share it with someone. Don’t forget about the Reverend Sisters. You know I’m a staunch Catholic. I was almost going to be one anyways during high school days. I grew up around Reverend Sisters and at some point I told my mum I wanted to become one”

Obasa assures vs piracy

Mudashiru-obasa
Mudashiru-obasa
Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has advised Movie Marketers Association of Nigeria, MMAN to strategize in moving the entertainment industry forward especially tackling piracy, while assuring them that the Assembly would support with whatever law that would help in bringing pirates to book.
He explained that, there is a ministry in Lagos state that caters for matters patterning to Nollywood and the entertainment industry in general adding that with the inclusion of a honourable member in the Assembly who is also an artiste, there is possibility that the interest of Nollywood artistes against piracy will be protected. Adding that, “It is a war that we have to fight together. Your existence is a source of joy and happiness to Nigeria, and that is why we will be glad to help in any way we can”, he said.
Obasa stated this while making remarks at the Lagos Assembly Round-Table Dialogue with Movie Marketers Association comprising of marketers, distributors, producers and directors, at the Lateef  Jakande Auditorium, Assembly complex, Alausa, Ikeja yesterday. He assured them that the government will not allow Nollywood as an entity to die because adding that, the industry has helped in strengthening the economy of the nation both locally and internationally.
In his opening remark, a lawmaker and Nollywood actor, representing Surulere 1 constituency, Hon. Desmond Elliot who facilitated the forum attributed the slow growth in the film industry to little or no involvement of government in the business of the industry. He described piracy as a deadly instrument solely at killing both the industry and operators in the industry.
Noting that, the dialogue to geared at looking at the possibility of developing partnership between the state government and the Nollywood Film Industry in a way to boosting the economy of the state. He further explained that, it would also helping in addressing piracy in the industry, the spate of illnesses and deaths in the industry and also the need for an Emergency Trust Fund to be created for artistes.
He also said the government should grant them tax rebate or tax holiday as it is done in other countries and also create a film village in Lagos structured by the government and this can generate revenue for the government in form of taxes and will also create jobs.
Other stakeholders in the industry called on the government to create an enabling environment for them to operate and for the industry to thrive, including finding a solution to the issue of piracy as it has destroyed the industry”, adding that it has gotten to a stage where the government should declare a state of emergency on it and also use KAI or a special task force to arrest those selling pirated copies on the streets.
They also advised that the government should create DVD shops all over the state where people can buy original films, and also build  cinemas all over the place from which the state can also make money, arguing that just like building estates and markets, cinemas is also real estate business.
“Building numerous cinema houses that can seat about 800 people at a time all over designated points in the state will be an avenue for the state to generate revenues. When properly harnessed, the stakeholders said Nollywood will boost tourism by 40 percent and it would further enable foreign investors to invest in Nigeria.

Speaking to THE NATION, the wife of the movie star said she has not been able to speak to her children for a while now. “The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return.”
She also said that Emeka Ike took her last two children from her during the period of her mother’s burial in February. “He promised to bring them to me immediately I returned from my mother’s burial but he didn’t. He doesn’t allow me to speak with them anymore. They are now against me.
Emma revealed that she had to leave their matrimonial home because of domestic violence. “If I was still with him, I may not survive. I was 19-year old when I met him and he was the one who deflowered me. I see no reason I shouldn’t be treated with utmost respect. Due to physical torture, my health has been affected. I don’t expose my boobs deliberately – Enitan Odugbemi

By Ayo Onikoyi
Big, buxom and beautiful Enita Odugbemi is a star to watch out for in the Yoruba movie industry. Though still upcoming, Enitan has done many films that could pitch her shoulder to shoulder with some of the best talents in the industry.
Apart from her talent, which is never in doubt, the next thing that brings her attention are her big, voluptuous boobs which have caused her slight embarrassment in more than one occasion.
In a past chat with potpourri, the producer of a film, Rado Lomo, recounted her experience with fan who got out of turn with her and grabbed at her boobs.

“Yes, that was at Oxford Street in London. I was at Oxford street to do some shopping so this young man walked up to me and said my face looked familiar. Later, he said he could recall that I am an actress. I smiled and he requested to take a picture with me. I agreed. The next moment, I realized he was trying to touch my boobs. I slapped him immediately. I later realized slapping him isn’t a good thing. I apologized and kissed him. He smiled and now we are good friends” she recounted.
In a recent chat she agreed that her boobs bring her unwanted attention but maintained she’s hardly the one to blame for that.
“I don’t expose my body in movies, it’s just because I am busty. I love my boobs so much and I thank God because he gave them to me. I don’t deliberate expose my body or boobs. People only tend to notice them because they are very big,” she said.

I was earning N1m per movie before I left Nigeria, Shola Shobowale

Shola Shobowale had been gracing our television screens for decades before she travelled to London for greener pastures. Even when she was abroad, she made it a prerogative to often come to Nigeria to shoot some movies.Shola Shobowale
In an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, the delectable actress stated that she earned as much as N1m per feature before she left the country. She is staging a comeback and seems upset with the state of the industry.
“When I left Nigeria, I took the industry along with me. The industry was very fantastic when I left but the reverse is the case now. I am here to make it better. During my time I was earning as much as a million naira for a movie feature. Now, people are producing movies with N500,000. God bless those that are endorsing entertainers because without them, people would be crying. How many actors are living solely on acting? Most of them do businesses by the side. When you see a doctor, he faces his hospital solely but we are still struggling. Before I left Nigeria, my children went to the best schools in the country because I know the value of education. I raised them up solely with the money I made from acting. Their tertiary education would have been in Nigeria but the education system was nothing to write home about. The industry is bad but we are going to change it. Things are very bad now. The quality of our production is very bad. When I was in the UK, I was coming to Nigeria to produce movies. I made my money back on a few but I lost out on a lot. There was a movie I invested N5m on but did not make more than N2m. We don’t have distribution channels and the government is not helping. We rebranded Nigeria and changed people’s perception of the country. Now, Nigeria is no more seen as a drug trafficking country. Nigeria is the third largest movie producing country in the world but the government is doing nothing to help the industry,” she said.
Currently working on her soap opera, Nectar, she explained that the series revolves round family matters. She believes that the family values system in Nigeria is nothing to write home about.
“We don’t have family values anymore and that is why my soap opera, Nectar, is about family life. Mothers don’t know their onions any more as their children are going astray. My parents did not bring me up alone. It was a combined effort from friends, families and neighbours. There is nothing like that anymore,” she said.

Dejumo Lewis Cries Out – “I’m The Poorest Paid Actor”

Dejumo-Lewis
Veteran Nigerian movie star, Dejumo Lewis, popularly known for his role as Kabiyesi in the classic NTA TV series ‘The Village Headmaster’ has opened up on how poor he is.
In an interview with Punch, the 72 year old actor cried out that he has never been financially stable despite his legendary status.
I must admit that I have not been rich. I am the poorest paid actor even though people call me a legend or an icon. My pensions were not paid at a time even though it is stipend. You would be shocked how much I receive as pension. ‘I had to struggle to pay my rent and my staff. I must admit that right now, I am indebted to the management of the hotel that I am staying. I also owe two of my staff more than three months salary. They have been so loyal and committed to me” said the thespian.
I must tell you that I have been living on charity and that is why I have not been able to publish my book or run my publishing company. It has been very rough and tough but because of my focus on what I am doing which would be of great benefit to Nigeria, I have been coping until things become better. I must admit that I am broke” lamented the TV star.

Dejumo Lewis’ story is one of many movie veterans in the Nigerian film sector who are not financially well-off.
