Idris Elba To Star In Fela-inspired Series

Idris
The series bears major resemblance to Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 novel, beast Of No Nation, which in turn draws its title from Fela Kuti’s 1989 Beast Of No Nation album.
The BONN series comes on screen under the aegis of Netflix and Red Crown productions.
Agu (Abraham Atta) is a little soldier who is thrown into the heart of a major country war where he has to choose between going for the kill or sparing a captive.
But what would you do if you were in Agu’s place, under the supervision of a dictator war leader in the mold of Idris Elba, most especially when the captive is your relative?
Ready yourselves for some indigenous, suspence-filled action here.

Tonto Dikeh Opens Up On Sensitive Issues On Olisa Adibua’s ‘The TRUTH’ Show

to
Tonto Dikeh was the latest celebrity to be on Olisa Adibua’s ‘The Truth’ show.
The controversial actress opened up on her relationship, bag controversy and more.
When asked if she’s in a relationship, Tonto said “Yes I am..I don’t do all that. (flaunt her love life) My instagram is about me, my life, my kids(her dogs).”
Tontolet who bought a bag and refused to pay for the item told Olisa that “It happened a few months ago I just kept having somebody bugging me to patronize her .Personally I do not shop for myself.I have people who do all that.So I kept telling her I do not shop for myself,i don’t even do that in Nigeria.
It was my little friend’s birthday coming up and I had a similar bag,so I said ok, could you give me a bag and box that matches with that ?
I had not been in the country for almost two months, when it arrived .By the time I came to Nigeria,I looked at it.I mean, even if I had never used a designer before,I would know that was fake.
The bag was like $3000 because that was what she sent with the picture. I think they tend to send you the original copy of what ever it is. So that is what I got and I said I didn’t like it because it was fake and I couldn’t give that out as a gift.”
On how she resolved it, the actress said “I actually burnt the box ..Yes I burnt the box ..I couldn’t keep the box because I didn’t want it to be said that I kept it and was going to use it at some point.”
On why she didn’t return it, Tontolet said “I was going to give her but it was with my housekeeper for two months, waiting got her to take it.And when the instagram thing came out the next thing she sent me was a very insulting text message.”

Following the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria about a year ago, a movie centred on the true-life story of men and women who risked their lives and made sacrifices to save others from the consequences of the outbreak of the highly dreaded disease is set for production. The movie, ’93 Days’ is a compelling human story of dedication, sacrifice, resilience and survival.
93 Days will be directed by Steve Gukas, and produced  by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dotun Olakunri and Steve Gukas demonstrates the bravery of the late Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh and her colleagues during their encounter with the late American-Liberian, Patrick Sawyer who was the index case of the Ebola Virus to ensuring that the right medical procedures were in place to stop the spread of the disease in the country.
Their selfless service not only prevented a national catastrophe and international contagion, but also left a permanent mark on the society and solidified their legacy as courageous Nigerians amid continuous support from the Lagos State Government, Federal Government, World Health Organisation (WHO), MSF and other organisations.
Speaking about the movie, Bolanle Austen Peters said “We recognize that we have to tell our own stories… Also recognize that hardly ever are all the stars aligned to allow Nigeria and Nigerians shine on the international scene.. Our role is to celebrate our heroes and Nigeria on the global scene”
The movie is definitely a must-watch with a perfect blend of both local and international casts to ensure excellent quality and international exposure is achieved. Renowned American Theatre practitioner and Filmmaker Pemon Rami also co-produced the movie.
“Our aim is to create a feature film that will resonate with many people across the world particularly in Nigeria and its sub-region”. At its core, 93 days is a tale of common humanity and just how much we can achieve when we stand united. In celebrating these icons, we celebrate our own potential to stand for what is right, serve selflessly and make a difference in our world.” stated the producers of the movie.

I’m lucky to have married early –Omotola

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
Star actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, shares a few ‘little secrets’ about herself and her career, CHUX OHAI writes
Two months ago, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde was at the centre of a gathering storm on social media, after she posted a message on her Twitter page, allegedly criticising those trekking long distances in honour of some leading politicians in the country and addressing them as “silly youths trekking their future away”.
The tweet had gone viral on the Internet and Omotola had immediately found herself at the receiving end of criticism from many users of the social media who felt she had no business meddling in other people’s affairs.
But, recalling the episode, in a recent meeting with journalists in Lagos, she defended her comment by reminding her critics that it was her business, after all, to worry about the trekkers, since their actions were in the public domain.
She said, “It is not that I am against trekking. My point is that people should either do something for nothing or they do it for fun. Although some people have said it is not my business, I’m now saying that it is my business. For crying out loud, if I say that I am trekking to go and celebrate, maybe a Boko Haram person, everybody will pounce on me. They will see it as immoral, considering the fact that many innocent Nigerians have lost their lives to the activities of the group.”
The actress counted herself as fortunate enough to have been married at a young age.
“If I hadn’t been married earlier, I probably would not be by now. I don’t know if any other man would have been able to handle me the way my husband has done. It is not because I am a bad person. I am actually a very strong woman,” she said.
With a hint of sympathy for upwardly mobile Nigerian women who are still unable to walk down the aisle, especially some of her fellow female artistes, Omotola explained the reason why they are finding it difficult to get married. She said, “At a point, you might become so confused and wonder if any man will ever love you for who you are. But, if you are not a very grounded person, you too can contribute to your own problems. I consider myself to be lucky to remain married.”
Asked if she had ever considered the fact that her daughter, who is now 18, could get married any time and she would end up becoming a grandmother before her 40th birthday, Omotola replied, “I don’t care much about it. I don’t even want to think about that because I got married early. What I always tell people is that all fingers are not equal. The fact that I got married early does not mean that my own child will get married early. My mother didn’t marry early. So it is not hereditary. But if my daughter wants to get married early and I like the guy and If I see that he is responsible enough, why not?”
The actress revealed that she had been under pressure from her fans to switch from acting to outright film production. But, insisting that she was not ready to change her status yet, she said, “I’m not pretty much a producer. Funny as it sounds, I really do not enjoy getting involved in film productions. I’d love to direct a movie, but it has to be someone else’s movie. I’m not interested in producing a movie right now. I just want to be an actress.”
Many movie fans might be shocked to learn that, although she is quite popular among her colleagues, Omotola has no friend in Nollywood. The actress revealed this much about her relationship with fellow Thespians.
“I don’t have close friends in Nollywood. Everybody is my colleague. Maybe it is because I live very far way from so many people in the industry. Secondly, I’m not very good at visiting people. I don’t have that kind of luxury,” she said.
In addition to her flair for acting and singing, Omotola added, she would have started a career in comedy and choreography. And to those behind the rumour that she had released a second music album, she said, “My second album is not out yet, but a lot of people think it is. Although I have not officially released it.”
Most people might be wrong to assume that the stunningly pretty actress live in highbrow areas in Lagos, such as the Lekki Peninsular. But our correspondent gathered that she lives in a simple neighbourhood in the lowly Iyana-Oba area of the metropolis and she is proud of it.
Revealing a lot more about her private life, she said,“I love where I live and I like the way I live. I come out to do my work and go back to my wonderful mansion. I am a cry-baby. I still cry a lot over the most unlikely subjects and for silly reasons.”
Like most other artistes, Omotola hardly sees her own movies and her dream role in a movie – the kind of role that she had always looked forward to having – is to act the part of a super heroine.
“I have always wanted to be a super heroine. I need one desperately,” she said.

How Indian Films, Hubert Ogunde Inspired Me into Filmmaking—Mike Bamiloye

The name, Mike Bamiloye is not new to many people conversant with Christian movies in Nigeria. In the early 90s, his faith-based films were hot cakes and they ruled the airwaves then. Those who saw some of his flicks will not forget ‘Agbara Nla’, ‘Fruitless Tree’, ‘Perilous Times’ and countless others.Mike Bamiloye wife
Many will also not forget names like ‘Isawuru’, ‘Ayamatanga’, and others from his movies in the 90s, when he dazzled viewers.
He arguable introduced and redefined Christian movies in Nigeria and today, he is still the president of Mount Zion Faith Ministries.
Recalling what led him into making films ‘for God’, the Evangelist said he was inspired by an Indian movie titled ‘Sholay’ he watched some years ago. He added that the late Nigerian theatre legend, Hubert Ogunde, gave him the inspiration to do movies that can win souls for God.
“Sometimes around early 1986, I went to a town hall to watch one of Hubert Ogunde’s movies, ‘Jayesinmi.’ The film ended late in the night and the distance to my house was about 10 kilometres.
“I came out of the hall that night with great burden in my heart. I was asking myself when Christian movies would be made to bless souls and touch people’s lives in Nigeria. I carried the burden in my heart and I refused to take a taxi,” he narrated to Newswatch.
Bamiloye, speaking on the high rate of indecent dressing in Nollywood, said the, “Glorification of indecency must stop. Indecent fashions have found their way into our movie industry.
“Clothes that people would not wear naturally on the street are being worn in movies. Ladies are dressing half-nude and new indecent fashions and appearances are being popularized through movie screenings. There should be a regulation against this.”
“Some Western cultures that are never accepted among us are being brought into our homes through movie screenings.
“Violence and destruction is not part of our culture. Gunning people down at broad day light in the presence of passers-by is never part of us. There should be a regulation against violent movies,” the man of God also said.

I Didn’t Run To MFM For My Ex-Hubby’s Return, says Doris Simeon

Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon, who turned a year older last week, has debunked rumour that she went to Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) to pray to God to reclaim her estranged husband, Daniel Ademinokan.Doris Simeon
Doris said the allegation is not true and disclosed that she never spoke with anyone concerning the issue.
“Me, attending MFM church because I want to reclaim my husband? That can’t be true. Who did I speak with that confirmed that from me? Did anyone call me and I told the person that? That’s not true,” she told Encomium magazine.
The actress said she attends Pastor Ituah Ighodalo-led Trinity House and stressed that she can go to any Bible teaching church.
According to her, “All I know is that I attend any Bible believing church. But my church is Trinity headed by Pastor Ituah Ighodalo. So, I am not aware of what you’re saying.”

I’m getting married soon-Tonto Dikeh

Unless hackers are at it again, Nollywood controversial actress and singer, signed to DB Records, has let the cat out of the bag that she’s getting married soon. The ‘Sugar Rush’ crooner through her Facebook page woke her fans this morning to the news that she has finally found love and set to hit the altar.
*Tonto

Read her post: “Hi Guys, The Big Announcement for the day. I have finally found Love. and I am about to get married soon. I am sure my real fans are happy for me. I just decided to let you know this morning that the rumors are true. Yaah! ???”
However, it should be noted that one of the reasons she’s being regarded as controversial is because of her knack for the dramatics.

Top 4 Overhyped Nigerian Celebrities Who Are Not Famous For Their Talent

With the advent of and the growing power of social media, publicity seems to have overshadowed talent. There are people with extreme talent but are overshadowed by over-hyped people with less to no talent. There are many people with rising fame in Nigeria’s entertainment industry but have accomplished nothing or are absolutely talentless. INFORMATION NIGERIA takes a look at the very much overrated Nigerians in entertainment.
download (10)
1. Maheeda: When she broke onto the entertainment scene, she claimed she was a gospel artiste. But right now people who know her know her for posting unclad photos of her body on social media. She is the self acclaimed Goddess of X and the public acclaimed Nigeria’s unclad queen. Most Nigerians don’t even know she sings at all. This tells a lot about how terrible her sons are.
download (11)
2. Afrocandy: This is another supposed Nigerian entertainer who is more popular for showing off her oranges and every other thing that makes her a woman rather than an actress/singer which she would claim she is if asked what she does or what her talent is. She did a song to campaign for President Jonathan during the election campaign. If courage was a talent, she might have been in contention to be named talented person because she is the only Nigerian actress who has starred in a soft P0*n movie (it takes courage to that in a Nigerian society). But since bravery isn’t a talent, she is far below on the pecking order of talented people.

3. Cossy Orjiakor: The first thing you need to know about Cossy is that she is a Nollywood actress with a couple of movies to her name. The second thing you need to know is that she has very huge t*ts. But in the real sense of it, Cossy is more popular for her huge t*ts which she shows off everytime than for her acting prowess. A lot of Nigerians do not even know Cossy is an actress. If you’ve managed to see any of her movies, you would agree that the only reason she’s an actress is because of what she has on her chest.

4. Denrele Edun: Denrele is one Nigerian celebrity who has managed to annoy entertainment enthusiast in the country and has managed to stay in the celebrity circle nonetheless. Denrele’s looks alone can make you puke if you are a right thinking individual. His dress sense is one of the weirdest Nigeria has ever seen. He calls himself an OAP, but when you see him do his job, you will think all being an OAP entail is talk more than you actually listen.

Empire Star, Terrence Howard Sued By Ex-wife For Alleged Kicking And Strangling Her

terrence
Lovers of the famous American TV show, Empire, would be concerned as one of the stars, Terrence Howard has been accused by his ex-wife of kicking and trying to strangle her while they were vacationing in Costa Rica.
According to the civil complaint filed by Michelle Howard, she claims that Terrence kicked, strangled and threatened her on July 29, 2013 at a rental house the couple was staying at in Costa Rica.
[The Defendant] followed Plaintiff into the restroom of the rental house and punched her on the left side of her face,” reads the complaint filed by Howard. “Defendant also grabbed Plaintiff by her neck and pushed her against the bathroom wall and strangled her for several seconds.”
Michelle Howard alleges that when she tried to escape, Terrence Howard’s son-in-law, Billy intervened by trying to pull the actor’s hands from his wife’s neck.
While Billy tried to pry Defendant’s hands from Plaintiff’s neck, Defendant whispered to Plaintiff, ‘Remember what I told you in Bora Bora? That is what I’m gonna do,’ referring to a prior instance where Defendant told Plaintiff that her body would never leave the island,” the complaint continues. “Plaintiff interpreted the reference to mean that Defendant was going to kill her.”
Howard He was arrested  on charges of assaulting his then-wife Lori McCommas, and in Michelle’s 2011 divorce papers she claimed he repeatedly threatened and hit her throughout their marriage.
Howard and executives for Fox, which airs Empire, were questioned about the accusations at the Television Critics Association’s winter tour in January.
Fox TV group chairs Dana Walden and Gary Newman claimed they weren’t aware of the accusations until December 2014, when they were already in business with him.
“A lot of the things I did were the product of not knowing how to deal with frustration, not knowing who Terrence Howard is,” said the actor. “I’ve grown so much from anything that’s happened in the past.”

Hacker shuts down ‘New York Magazine’ over alleged Bill Cosby cover story

Camille and Cosby
Camille and Cosby
Shortly after New York Magazine unveiled its attention-grabbing Bill Cosby cover story entitled “Cosby: The Women,” from a painstaking result of six months of interviews and careful planning, their entire site was abruptly taken offline by an anonymous hacker. Soon afterwards, critics began pointing some accusing comments on Cosby, alleging his conivance with the hacker who took down the site.
However, The hacker, known only as ThreatKing, said he did not care about Bill Cosby but hates the “many stupid people” of New York.
While in an interview with an online media, ThreatKing said he “overwhelmed the site with a distributed denial of service attack” which overloaded its servers with traffic.
Hacker
Hacker
On his hatred of NYC, ThreatKing maintained that he found so many things wrong in New York, hence, his choice of the city for attacks.
He also claimed that his hatred of New York  was based on some jeers and intimidations he received from the people when he visited New York city. “I’ve seen many pranks gone wrong at new york. That got me pissed. That’s why I chose New York,” he said.
“I went to new York 2 months ago. It was really bad. Someone pranked me. Everyone started laughing and shit. The first 10 hours being there. Some African-American tried to prank me with a fake hand gun,” lamented ThreatKing.
He  further maintained that he plans to continue instigating similar attacks on other New York media outlets. “I’ll try my best to keep [New York] offline for 14 hours,” ThreatKing said, adding, strangely, that “we would control the Internet if we had enough money. Because each server costs money.”

Whoever says acting is not lucrative is lying — Bukky Fagbuyi

Nollwood actress and film producer, Bukola Fagbuyi, popularly known as “Bukky Apesin”, recently, premiered her movie, Sekunola in  Houston, Texas with several of her colleagues in attendance. She is an up and coming actress who desires to stamp her feet in the sands of the make-believe industry. In this interview, she talks about a few things that make her tick.
By Aderonke Adeyeri
Why did it take you twelve years to produce your own movie?
I know it is a trend especially in the Yoruba sector of the industry for people who have not even gone through a drama school to produce movies. I don’t go with the crowd, I do things when I think I have got all it requires. Truly, I joined the industry in 2003 but movie making is not something one jumps into. It requires a good story line, script, cast, money and so on. Besides, I want to be identified with quality.
Do you think the trend is wrong?
I am only saying we should learn to do quality films and pay attention to the image we create for ourselves in the industry. If any one thinks he or she has what it takes to produce a film, who am I to complain?
What is your new film Sekunola about?
Sekunola is about children, child abuse, parental care and the youths. There are many vices in our society but I want to educate people on family values.
A large percentage of  Yoruba films are shot in Ikorodu and Abeokuta, why did you shoot Sekunola in Akure, Ondo State?
I had to travel that far to get the features needed to have a good story. Also, Akure is a peaceful and beautiful place.
Do you mind sharing those features with us?
That would mean letting the cat out of the bag. When you see the film, you will understand and appreciate my sense of judgment.
Who are the cast?
I have Muyiwa Ademola, Saheed Balogun, Bimbo Oshin, Ibrahim Charter, Dayo Amusa, Aderupoko, Kunle Afod, Dupe Jayesimi and so many others.
What are the challenges you encountered being your first time of producing a movie?
The story line is about children. Getting children who could act well was quite challenging. Getting children to give us the best took our time. I had to look for somebody who could work and tolerate their excesses to direct the film.
Who directed the film?
Bukky-Fagbuyi
Bukky-Fagbuyi
Adebayo Tijani and Muyiwa Ademola. My directors were wonderful. My film was nominated for ZAFFA Award last year. It also won the Yoruba Heritage Awards 2014 at Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Why did you premiere your film outside Nigeria where it originated from?
This is not my making. My promoters did it on popular demand. It will soon hit the Nigerian market.
It once went viral that you were dating your boss, Muyiwa Ademola?
I want the whole world to know that I have not and will never date my boss.
Is he not worth you or isn’t he your kind of man?
No, that is far from the truth. He is like a brother to me, we are too close to become lovers.
What were the measures you took to tell your own side of the story?
I spoke to some media organizations and I think it did work.
How do you see Nollywood?
Nollywood is a great industry. You will appreciate Nollywood more when you are outside Nigeria. When I was going for ZAFAA Awards in 2009, my picture was on the flyer. When the immigration officer who was questioning other passengers saw me , she jumped at me and took my autograph. Foreigners appreciate Nollywood more.
Do you agree that some actresses pay producers to get roles?
I can never pay for roles, I will rather work for them. I will never pay to get a role. My talent will make people come to me regardless of their status.
What else do you do besides acting?
I sell ladies and children wears.
So you also have a fashion house?
No, I get the wears and distribute to my customers.
Many Yoruba actresses seem to be in the fashion business, why ?
Nollywood is about fashion. It is a show business. Show business is not only about movies, but also about what you look like, what you wear, the car you drive, etc.
An actress once said many actresses go into these businesses to make money as acting can’t pay their bills. Is that true?
This is not true. It depends on what they are putting into it. You can only make money when you strategise. I know piracy is really killing our business. Actresses are going into business because we can still shuffle our job with business. Acting is not a white collar job where you work 8am to 6pm. Also, we are into show business because we want to make more money. Acting pays well. Please explain why Aliko Dangote ventures into new businesses almost on a daily basis? Genevieve has a brand, is it because she has no money? No, I don’t believe it’s because we don’t have money or we don’t make enough money from acting.
Are you married?
No, I am not.
So, you’re single and searching?
(Laughs) Single, but am I searching? No, I don’t think so. I have not said I have a man or I don’t. If a woman is searching, that does not mean it’s because she doesn’t have a man.
Talk about your man?
Let’s save that for another day.
Your type of man?
Good, handsome, and God fearing.
How soon do you plan to settle down?
I will get married by God grace. Marriage is not what you just jump into.
Are you a virgin?
I am not a virgin. But please save all the personal questions for another day. I am in a relationship with a good man. That will be made public soon.
