Lupita Nyong'o's $150k Oscar dress stolen from hotel room
It feels like the bling ring all over again.
According to TMZ, Lupita Nyong'o's $150k pearl- embellished Oscar frock has been stolen from her hotel room at The London in West Hollywood.
Boasting 6,000 tiny pearls, sources say 31-year-old Lupita's large entourage (including friends, hair stylists, makeup artists and fitters) all had access to a handful of key cards which allowed them into enter room. So, could the culprit be in her inner circle?
While the Oscar-winning actress tried to file a police report immediately, sources say a team from Calvin Klein - who designed the dress - had to take the reigns as the frock was on loan.
L.A. County Sheriff's Department Officer John Mitchell said: "We got a call at about 11.30 last night from someone at the London Hotel about a high value dress that was stolen from a hotel room."
According to E! News, detectives from the LAPD are currently investigating the theft by reviewing security surveillance footage and interviewing staff and other witnesses.
Soon after the shocking news, The London Hotel released a statement to E!. "This is a terribly unfortunate situation," they said. "And we are working with law enforcement on their investigation."
Let's hope they catch the thieves soon.
