WAR: Emeka Ike Will Make A Better AGN President Than Ibinabo Fiberesima – Clarion Chukwurah

Ibinabo-and-clarion--600x450
Well, I guess this further proves the saying that women don’t like each other.
It’s been barely a year since Clarion Chukwurah‘s battle with Ibinabo Fiberesima; she’s now backing Emeka Ike by expressing optimism that he would handle the affairs of the guild without fuss.
In a recent chat with The Punch, Chukwurah stated that aside having a good knowledge of what Ike wants to achieve with the guild, she’s eager to see his transformation in the guild.

‘Emeka Ike is my colleague and a friend. He has spoken to me on several occasions on what he wants to do with the Actors Guild of Nigeria and I am eager to see him achieve his set goals. Emeka Ike is not a trouble maker.
‘If he was, then why would such a number of state chairmen of the AGN support him? If the majority feels he can turn things then he is not a trouble maker. There are a lot of charlatans that expect President Buhari to fail but all I would say is that we should give Emeka Ike a chance and see if he would fail,’ she said.

Nollywood legend, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as ”Osuofia,”on Friday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to formulate favourable policies for the Nigerian movie industry that would enable the industry contribute to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The veteran actor who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, said Nollywood is capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic development effectively if the industry is given all the necessary support it requires by government.
He also charged the government to pay attention to the issue of piracy bedeviling the industry, adding that the activities of pirates has seriously affected the film industry.
He said: “I will want the three tiers of government to put their viewfinders toward Nollywood since they have recognised that Nollywood helps in the per capita income of the country.
“I feel that they are not paying enough attention to the movie industry. So, let them give us policies that will make this industry stand and defend this country.
“I feel the movie industry is thriving and we are contributing our quota to the economic advancement of the country which makes me very, very happy.
“Since we are not relegated to the background, we will continue to strive harder in the development of the country in general. So I am happy to be a member of the Nollywood and see the improvement in Nollywood for now.’’
He hailed the quality of movies the industry is churning out now, saying the partnerships between Nollywood producers and their counterparts abroad is paying off, because of the easy accessibility the internet creates.
He said: “When they say it (the world) is a global village; you expect people of common interests from the different countries of the world to come together. And with the help of internet, we have been moving together and the synergy has been very encouraging.’’

I Will Never Forget What Funke Akindele Did to My Mother…Toolz Oniru Exposes

24th August, 2015, will ever remain a big day in the life of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, as she added another year to her age all thanks to God for the life preservation.funke akindele
The key note about her celebration is that she has a large fan base and almost got everyone having her picture on their various social media pages all sending out a birthday shout out.
One of the messages that stood out was from popular on-air-personality, Toolz Oniru, after she appreciated the actress for helping put smiles on the face of her mother who had always wanted to meet her.TOOLZ
Toolz stated that she was not her mum’s favourite child and in a bid to win her heart over, she decided to get Funke come to the house and when she eventually agreed to come, things changed as her mother was so happy to finally meet her.
According to her, “So let me tell you a little story. My mum is a HUGE fan of Funke’s and I kept thinking if I was able to surprise my mum with a visit from Funke, I would definitely be her favourite child (middle child issues). One day I bumped into Funke at church and I told her my mum’s at home, and would she mind stopping by to say hello? Without hesitating she said yes. To cut a long story short, she made my mum so happy that day, and I will never forget that. God bless you on your special day!”

I can’t stand short men — Bimbo Thomas
Nollywood actress, Bimbo Thomas has been in the movie industry for quite a while, but she shot into the limelight when she appeared in Funke Akindele’s popular movie, ‘Omo Ghetto.’ In this chat with Potpourri, she speaks on the early days of her career, her wine store, among other issues. Excerpts…
Bimbo-Thomas-1
Can you trace your genesis in the movie industry?
I can remember it was during my undergraduate days at the University of Lagos studying Creative Arts. When I was in 100 Level, I met Tayo Odueke (Sikirat Sindodo), and she was already in the industry at that time. She noticed that I was doing well when it comes to projects and practicals in school. She then suggested that I should come into the movie industry since I have all it takes in terms of charisma and every other thing. It took me a while to decide though. Later on, I met with Lanre Abbey and he introduced me to the Odunfa Caucus under the tutelage of Yinka Quadri.

Which of the movies you’ve acted in will you say gave your big break?
I’ll say ‘Omo Ghetto.’

Which is the most challenging role you’ve played in a movie?
Playing Nikky in Omo Ghetto was challenging. I had never broken a bottle before in my life, and I had also never been involved in a street fight, but I had to do all that in the movie. I put in my all and the character stuck. It took me some time to get that character out of my head.

Are you comfortable with your size, or would you like to change anything about it?
I’m okay. Right now, I’m even on a diet program trying to shed some weight. I know that I don’t want to go beyond this size because there are some sizes that are not good enough for a babe. And for a woman that has not started making babies, I should watch it if I don’t want to go way overboard.

It was reported that your wine store cost N42m, is it true, and what informed your setting up of the store?
This store, Bimbally, isn’t what I thought will come into place now. But the love for collecting wines, beauty and nature have always been in me.   One day, I just thought of it that I haven’t really been working for a while now because I’m selective of the scripts I accept because I noticed that I was being stereotyped. I knew I needed a brand extension, and I thought of establishing a clothing line which I’m still going to do anyway, and a wine store. And the rest as they say, is history. The plan is to expand and have branches all over as time goes on.
Bimbo-Thomas-2
It was alleged that your sugar daddy gave you the money to set up the store, what do you have to say about that?
It’s very funny when I hear things like that; I wonder where they think it up from. Looking at this shop, does it look to you like it’s worth N42m?

No, but my eyes could be deceiving me, is it?
I put this down with my own hard-earned money; no man gave me money. Even my family members were shocked when I opened the store because I didn’t inform anybody. My man was also surprised. Anyway, I think it’s a hype for me and I love it, except for the aspect of the man that they added to it.

What’s the craziest thing you can do on a movie set?
Now you’ve got me thinking. I’ve kissed severally. I really don’t know, but I can’t go nude.

Which is the most memorable kiss you’ve ever had on set?
It was with Femi Branch. I’ve forgotten the title of the film now but we played lovers and we had to make it real, and we really kissed. He had his back turned at me, and he said something. Instead of me to respond, I just grabbed him and started kissing him; even the director was stunned. He is my friend though and I know his wife.

Which actor would you like to kiss?
Internationally, it’s Idris Elba, but lately I’ve had a crush on Terrence Howard. Locally, it’s John Dumelo (Blushes).

What’s your favourite part of your body?
My lips.

Have you ever been friends with benefit with anybody?
No, I don’t subscribe to it. I’ve always had a smooth arrangement with everybody I’ve come in contact with. However, like the Kumi guy I told you about, we started out as friends, and you know we ladies always know when guys like us. But I, as a person, don’t like to drag it out of you. I’ll act as if I can’t read between the lines. Anyway, we gradually began a relationship, but I won’t even peck an ordinary friend; it’s that bad.

There’s a lot of lesbianism talks in the industry nowadays, have you ever had a lesbian hit on you?
Not from anyone in the industry, but outside. There was a time I was at a party and they played one of my favourite songs and I started dancing excitedly. I noticed a lady was looking at me in a funny kind of way. When I sat down, we got talking. And she began putting her hands on me, telling me that she had been admiring me for a long time. There and then, I shut her down and she apologised. The irony is that she’s even a prettier lady than I am.

It is believed that many actresses these days are glorified prostitutes, what’s your take on that?
When people say things like that, I feel it’s their opinion, which they have a right to. I have a lot of guys as friends and I know that they like actresses, maybe because they can boast with it that they’re dating famous people. There are many girls out there who can do whatever they like without public scrutiny, but it’s not so for actresses. But why would someone who is famous be prostituting when the attention of the whole world is on her? It doesn’t make sense. Being famous deprives one of doing certain things.
If anyone calls me with a strange number and starts saying funny things like I like you, or I have so and so uncle I want you to meet, I just block the person’s line straight away. I’m not cut out for things like that. It takes a lot of effort for any member of the opposite sex to be my friend. For whoever is hiding under this umbrella to tarnish other people’s image, I think they should be checked.

Stop calling me new actress, Sotayo Sobola cries out

Beautiful actress and movie producer Tayo Sobola recently took to her Instagram timeline to express her displeasure at being referred to as a new actress in the industry. The actress who won City People award 2015 in the ‘New Actress’ award category felt she should not belong in the category and voiced her thoughts as such.
Sotayo-Sobola
“So I got messages from people on Whatsapp and BBM that I won City People’s ‘Best ‘New’ actress (Yoruba).
It’s quite funny when you look back and see the same people who have been addressing you as an actress in years and suddenly you are new? Only City People understands their criteria for nominating and awarding. All the same, no be how far, na how well. Thanks everyone. This is for you”  She says.

Fox And Empire Producers Sued For $500M Over Story Idea

Producers of Empire are facing a lawsuit from Jon Astor-White who claims his 2007 idea was stolen for the Fox, music-themed, hit TV series.

Aston-White, owner of a Las Vegas based production outfit, is suing Fox as well as the executive producers of the show to the tune of $500M, in addition to extra damages for damage done, Daily Mail reports.
‘In our minds [Empire] is at least 75% of what we wrote,’  White told Daily Mail.
According to Daily Mail, White said he’d initially proposed his show titled King Solomon in 2007, which was based on a music family’s many power tussles for supremacy and control of the venture.
He also claims to have circulated his idea of King Solomon to some production outfits, which must have leaked somewhere in between, leading to Empire.
Empire has been quite successful but its shine stands threatened by the multiple lawsuits springing from various angles.
Till date, there have been at least three legal tussles before now between various persons versus, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, the creators of Empire and 21stCentury Fox.
A certain record label named Empire Distribution wanted the producers to drop the name Empire, but there was a counter claim from Fox, Daily Mail says.
One Ron Newt had, sometime ago, pressed charges against Empire and those behind it to the tune of $1 billion.
Another Sophia Eggleston thinks $300 million will make her forget how the TV series stole her Cookie identity and mirrored the storyline around her exact life experiences.

Empire, set to return September 23rd, is the hugely successful TV series that details the life of a music family wherein a man is torn between two women, the fortune and fame of his music company and many more intriguing aspects.

Top 5 High Profile Nigerian Celebrity Divorces

nollywood-celebrity-divorce
There is this belief everywhere you turn that marriages celebrities are involved in never lasts. Giving the divorce trend among celebrities over the years, who would blame people with this belief? As much as there are celebrity marriages that fail, there are a handful of celebrity marriages that have been great success. But today, INFORMATION NIGERIA focuses on the very high profile Nigerian celebrity divorces.
Stella Damascusstella damascus
Stella Damascus and Emeka Nzeribe: Who else deserves to make this list if not the ever outspoken and sometimes controversial Nollywood actress and presenter, Stella Damasus. She has been in three different marriages. She’s in her third as we speak (controversially). Getting divorced from her second husband was the most dramatic as she decided to marry her third husband without properly divorcing the second one. And as a consequence her second husband Emeka Nzeribe wanted to sue her.
Toke Makinwa
Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida: The popular OAP and Vlogger, Toke Makinwa was the victim in this disastrous end to a relatively lowkey marriage which saw the husband cursed by people who have never met him while Toke was consoled by people who probably used to hate her or indifferent about her. The marriage collapsed after Maje’s secret relationship with his ex-girlfriend became public knowledge in the most bizarre manner; the news that he has impregnated her. When the news came out, everyone knew exactly what will become of the marriage.
Ini Edo
Ini Edo and Phillip Ehiagwina: The Nollywood actress and her husband, Phillip finally called it quits after being married for about 6 years. The 6 years duration the marriage lasted actually beat many predictions. Rumours from both parties alleged the marriage split to be as a result of infidelity on Ini’s part and Phillip sponging off Ini’s finances. But last week, Ini came out to say the marriage collapsed because of her in-laws. At this point, it will be very interesting to hear what the ex-husband will say.
Funke-Akindele-Jenifa-and-husband
Funke Akindele and Kehinde Oloyede: The engagement between this two was pretty much seen as two lines which should never have met, hence the reason it lasted only a while. After only one year which was plagued by several unpalatable rumours, Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele popularly known as Jenifa admitted to the long insinuated break-up. Back then, her publicist, Ayo Ola-Muhammed released a statement saying “…We want to formally inform you that after due consultation and consideration, she’s now separated from Mr. Kehinde Oloyede as his wife,”.
Fathia Balogun
Fathia Balogun and Saidi Balogun: This is arguably the most eventful/controversial divorce on Nigeria’s entertainment scene. These two have been separated for years yet did not become legally divorced until recently when a Lagos court gave the ruling. The whole divorce issue got even more controversial when Fathia said she won’t drop Balogun as her name.

“I’ve Been So Busy Working I Haven’t Had s*x For Some Time” – Actress

There’s more to Nollywood than being fashionable, frolicking and hanging with the opposite s*x; at least that’s what actress Moyo Lawal makes us understand in this exclusive.
Moyo-Lawal
Speaking to Punch’s Saturday Beats over the weekend, Lawal revealed how “she [hasn’t] had s*x in a while” especially as she’s been busy working on movies.
She also explained how she isn’t in any romantic affair at the moment owing to being at events in addition to her packed acting schedule.
“I am not dating anybody but I would start dating soon.
“I work too hard to think of s*x. I am always on set and even during my free time, I always have an event to attend. I honestly don’t even have the time to think that I am single. The only time I remember that I am single is when my father asks me about my private life and family members ask me when the wedding bells would ring. I have so many people who look after me and I am forever grateful especially my fans,” she said.
Lawal also expressed delight in comments from fans describing her as sexy. She finds it interesting these comments, as she doesn’t see herself as one who fits into the ‘pretty’ bracket.
Speaking to SB she said; In all honesty, I don’t think I am sexy. I make sure I am myself at all times and I don’t know why people think I’m sexy. I don’t think I am pretty and I’m not tall, I’m just myself.”
The actress also talked about her late mother – A nurse who passed some two years ago following heart related issues.
“I was with her on her last day, but was not there when she died. My mother was a nurse and I loved spending time with her at the hospital because it made me appreciate life,” she explained.
In an earleier interview with Punch, sometime in May, 2015, Lawal explained intentions of “pushing her career beyond projecting her sexiness.”
Famed for her appealing b*ttocks, she attributed that part of her to ‘squats’, an exercise routine she says she could do a thousand of at the gym when she feels the urge to.
